We’re driving meaningful change through charity.

The Beck Foundation exists to provide shelter and workforce development for at-risk communities in the U.S. and Mexico. We do this to help build better communities because affordable housing is an issue in all of the communities we serve.

WHY WE FOCUS ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Research done by the MacArthur Foundation reveals:

47%

Forty-seven percent of adults experience unstable or insecure housing situations at some point in their lives. That number rises to 59 percent for families earning less than $40,000.

53%-69%

In every region of the U.S. anywhere from 53 to 69 percent classify the purchase of affordable housing as challenging in their community.

58%

Fifty-eight percent say that a family of four with an income of about $50,000 would have a hard time finding affordable quality housing. That number skyrockets to 88 percent for a family of four with an income closer to $24,000.

65%

Most believe that friends and family who are getting older will face challenges meeting their housing needs. Sixty-five percent highlight affordability as a top issue, second only to an individual’s physical needs as they age.

10 Million

In Mexico more than 10 million houses do not meet the minimum criteria to be considered “livable and decent”.

“Every person deserves access to a safe, livable, and affordable home. Our financial support and volunteer labor help make this type of homeownership a reality for individuals and families.”
